Joseph Decker, Esq.
General Counsel and Board Member
Joseph Decker is a Board Member and the General Counsel of bit-x-bit.  Joe brings 30 years of experience as a business litigator and trial attorney. In addition to consulting directly with clients and counsel on a wide variety of computer forensics, incident response and e-discovery matters, Joe has developed strategies and guided the implementation of data analytics in e-discovery, as well as provided expert reports and testimony in support of its use.   He was an E-Discovery Special Master for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and past co-chair of the ACBA’s Legal Technology and E-Discovery Committee.

Licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and California, Joe created and developed a mid-size law firm’s in-house electronic discovery department and has been a frequent writer and speaker on e-discovery issues. 

Additionally, Joe has served as an Adjunct Professor, Trade Secrets Law, at the Duquesne University School of Law

Throughout his career, Joe successfully argued the issue of taxation of e-discovery costs before the Third Circuit in the groundbreaking case of Race Tires America, Inc. v. Hoosier Racing Tire Corp., 674 F.3d 158 (3d Cir. 2012) and was rated "AV" (highest ranking) by Martindale-Hubbell.

Joe earned his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law (with honors; articles editor, Law Review) and his B.S. from Syracuse University (magna cum laude).
