Joseph Decker, Esq.
Vice President
Joseph Decker brings 30 years of experience as a business litigator and trial attorney to bit-x-bit. In addition to consulting directly with clients and counsel on a wide variety of computer forensics, incident response and e-discovery matters, Joe directs bit-x-bit’s use of data analytics in e-discovery, developing strategies and overseeing the implementation of data analytics, as well as providing expert reports and testimony in support of its use. He is an E-Discovery Special Master for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and past co-chair of the ACBA’s Legal Technology and E-Discovery Committee.

Licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and California, Joe created and developed his mid-size law firm’s in-house electronic discovery department, and is a frequent writer and speaker on e-discovery issues. Additionally, his achievements include:
  • Adjunct Professor, Trade Secrets Law, Duquesne University School of Law
  • E-Discovery Special Master, Western District of Pennsylvania, U.S. District Court
  • Co-chair, ACBA Legal Technology and E-Discovery Committee
  • Successfully argued the issue of taxation of e-discovery costs before the Third Circuit in the groundbreaking case of Race Tires America, Inc. v. Hoosier Racing Tire Corp., 674 F.3d 158 (3d Cir. 2012).
